I have recently decided to leave the top law school I’ve been attending for the past six months to pursue a career in book publishing. I graduated from a respected NYC university in 2005 with a B.A. in English and philosophy (ranked 11th out of over 700 students) . I am also about to publish a paper I wrote as an undergrad in a volume alongside established scholars (all of whom have Ph.Ds). I also have about a year’s worth of office experience.
However, I’m finding it VERY difficult to find an entry level editing position at any publishing house in NY, big or small. Do most NYC publishing houses look for experience, even for entry level positions? Should I just bite the bullet and go to grad school for my M.A. in English Lit. and then try again?
I don’t believe either of my majors were useless. Many successful people have degrees in the humanities.
Also, an English degree is ideal for an editorial position in the publishing industry.

I feel very held back at my current job and would like to be making more money and more of a leader. I have told my leaders of this and being more of a leader in my role and they continually push me to the back burner. I will be used as a back-up leader in case the one in front of me falters. I make 8.73 an hour and feel stuck in a rut and yet when I look for other jobs, I’m overqualified or too experienced? Please help?

Does Posterwall.com domain name work for a career/work/employment/job-search website?
Filed Under job search | 1 Comment
This question is best answered by a native US English speaking person. I am setting up a career/work/employment/ job-search website and am considering using the domain name posterwall.com. Good domains are hard to come by.
Question is what you think about when you hear Posterwall.com. The idea is that Posterwall.com can refer to a wall where Help wanted and Need job notes are posted, like in a public requitement office etc.
But if Posterwall.com just sounds weird to native US English speakers, off the mark, strange and definitely not appropriate for such I site I would like to much know it before I buy the domain name.
So what do you think of the domain posterwall.com for a job search site site? Thanks.
There is nothing on this site now but the URL will look like this:
http://www.posterwall.com

What does an Administrative Assistant do? And is it a good job to start after graduating college?

I graduated last year and have limited work experience. I want to broaden my job search. I have a science major but can’t really find entry level for my degree so I want to try out other jobs in the meantime (so I can go to grad school in a couple of years).
